Substitute House Bill No. 7280, also known as Special Act No. 25-25, authorizes the Commissioner of Administrative Services to convey a parcel of state land, approximately 0.33 acres in size and identified as number l15291 in the Danbury Tax Assessor's records, to the city of Danbury. This land, located at 71 Main Street and containing the former Fairfield County Courthouse, will be transferred at a cost that only covers the administrative expenses associated with the conveyance. The transfer is contingent upon the approval of the State Properties Review Board, which must complete its review within thirty days of receiving the proposed agreement from the Department of Administrative Services.
The bill stipulates that the city of Danbury must utilize the land and improvements for municipal purposes. If the city fails to do so, does not retain ownership, or leases any part of the property, the parcel and improvements will revert back to the state of Connecticut. Additionally, the State Treasurer is tasked with executing any necessary deeds or instruments for the conveyance, which must include provisions to enforce the conditions outlined in the bill regarding the use of the property.
