Senate Bill No. 1566, also known as Special Act No. 25-16, authorizes the Commissioner of Administrative Services, on behalf of the Commissioner of Correction, to convey a parcel of state land to the town of Cheshire for a nominal fee of one dollar, plus administrative costs. The land, approximately 1.554 acres in size, is designated for use as additional space for the adjacent school bus depot located at 157 Sandbank Road. The conveyance is contingent upon approval from the State Properties Review Board and includes a stipulation that if the town does not use the land for the intended purpose, does not retain ownership, or leases any part of it, the parcel will revert back to the state.
The bill also outlines that the State Properties Review Board must complete its review of the conveyance within thirty days of receiving a proposed agreement from the Department of Administrative Services. Until the conveyance is finalized, the land will remain under state control. The State Treasurer is tasked with executing any necessary deeds or instruments for the conveyance, which must include provisions to ensure compliance with the conditions set forth in the bill.
