Substitute Senate Bill No. 1562, also known as Special Act No. 25-15, modifies the authorized use of a parcel of state land previously conveyed to the town of Newtown. The bill releases a restriction from a deed dated July 16, 2004, which mandated that the land, referred to as Parcel B, be used solely for economic development purposes. This restriction is now released, relinquished and has no further force and effect, allowing for a change in the use of the land.
Under the new provisions, the town of Newtown is required to use the parcel exclusively for open space or recreational purposes only. If the land is utilized for any purpose outside of open space or recreation, it will revert to the state of Connecticut. Additionally, the State Treasurer is tasked with executing any necessary instruments to implement these changes.
