The General Assembly Raised Bill No. 1519 proposes the designation of various days, weeks, and months to raise awareness and commemorate significant causes and contributions within the state of Connecticut. The bill amends subsection (a) of section 10-29a of the general statutes by adding new subdivisions (118) to (134). These include the establishment of Scouting America Day on February 8, Neurofibromatosis Awareness Day on February 14, Connecticut Native Plant Month in April, and several other observances throughout the year, such as Parkinson's Awareness Day, Tuskegee Airmen Day, and Veterans' Month in November.
Each designated day or month will be proclaimed by the Governor, with suitable exercises to be held in the State Capitol and other locations as designated by the Governor for observance. The bill aims to enhance public awareness of various health conditions, historical contributions, and cultural celebrations, thereby fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of these important topics within the community. The act is set to take effect upon passage.
