The proposed legislation, General Assembly Raised Bill No. 7012, aims to establish a working group dedicated to addressing anti-Semitism in public schools, effective July 1, 2025. This working group will provide resources and assistance to the Department of Education, local and regional boards of education, and other educational stakeholders to tackle issues related to anti-Semitism that impact students, families, educators, and school personnel. The group will focus on amending school district policies to ensure a safe environment for all, offering training for educators, and developing curriculum materials related to anti-Semitism, Jewish heritage, and Holocaust education.

The working group will consist of seven appointed members, including representatives from the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, a state university professor, a public school social studies teacher, an anti-defamation league expert, a representative from Voices for Hope, a curriculum specialist from a Jewish nonprofit, and the chairpersons and ranking members of the education committee. Initial appointments must be made within thirty days of the bill's effective date, and the group is required to submit a report on its activities and legislative recommendations by February 1, 2026. The bill does not include any deletions from current law but introduces new provisions to enhance educational efforts against anti-Semitism.
