The bill establishes a working group aimed at addressing antisemitism in public schools, effective July 1, 2025. This 10-member group will provide assistance and resources to the Department of Education, local and regional boards of education, and other educational stakeholders to tackle issues related to antisemitism affecting students, families, educators, and school personnel. The working group will focus on amending school district policies to ensure safety for all individuals in the school environment, offering training for educators and administrators on antisemitism, and creating or providing curriculum materials related to antisemitism, Jewish heritage, and Holocaust and genocide education.

The working group will consist of members appointed by various legislative leaders, including representatives from the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, a university professor, a social studies teacher, an Anti-Defamation League expert, a representative from Voices of Hope, and a curriculum specialist from a Jewish nonprofit organization. Initial appointments must be made by July 31, 2025, and the chairperson will be selected by the House speaker and Senate president pro tempore. The group is required to submit a report on its activities and legislative recommendations by February 1, 2026. The bill does not impose any fiscal impact on the state or municipalities, as the working group is expected to have the necessary expertise to fulfill its responsibilities.
