Senate Bill No. 933, also known as Special Act No. 23-23, establishes a cybersecurity task force with the purpose of developing a strategic plan for cybersecurity in the state. The strategic plan will include findings and recommendations on various aspects of cybersecurity, such as establishing oversight structures, identifying critical IT infrastructure needs, enhancing coordination with federal agencies and other states, information sharing, and promoting public awareness of cybersecurity issues. The task force will also focus on maximizing state assistance to municipalities, coordinating initiatives, collaborating with the private sector, and ensuring personal computer and mobile data security.

The task force will consist of members appointed by various state leaders, including the speaker of the House of Representatives, the president pro tempore of the Senate, the majority and minority leaders of both houses, the Governor, and designees of the Commissioners of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Administrative Services, and Economic and Community Development. The task force may include members of the General Assembly and must convene its first meeting within sixty days of the act's passage. The task force is required to submit a report on its findings and recommendations by January 1, 2024, to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly related to public safety and security. The task force will terminate upon submission of the report or on January 1, 2024, whichever is later. The bill does not specify any insertions or deletions to current law.
