Existing law establishes the Bilingual Teacher Professional Development Program, administered by the State Department of Education in consultation with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, for teachers seeking to provide instruction in bilingual and multilingual settings.
Existing law establishes the University of California, administered by the Regents of the University of California, the California State University, administered by the Trustees of the California State University, and the California Community Colleges, administered by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, as the 3 segments of public postsecondary education in the state.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation that would foster partnerships between school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, and the above-described segments of postsecondary education for the purpose of implementing integrated bilingual teacher credentialing pathways.
