Existing law establishes the California Register as an authoritative guide in California to be used by state and local agencies, private groups, and citizens to identify the state's historical resources and to indicate what properties are to be protected, as specified. Existing law authorizes a resource to be listed as a historical resource in the California Register if the resource meets one of the specified criteria, including, among other things, an association with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of California's history and cultural heritage.
This bill would authorize a resource to be listed as a historical resource in the California Register if the resource was included on the list of National Register of Historic Places on or after January 20, 2025, and was subsequently removed from that list.
