Existing law requires the State Department of Public Health to conduct a program of epidemiological assessments of the incidence of cancer. Existing law requires specified entities providing specified services to cancer patients, including hospitals, practitioners, and laboratories, to report each case of cancer to the department, as specified.
This bill would require a hospital or other facility that provides therapy to a cancer patient within an area designated as a cancer reporting area to post a sign, developed by the department, in a conspicuous location that contains an advisement about cancer data reporting and a quick response code that links to the California Cancer Registry internet website.
