COMMENTS:
Author’s Statement: “HR 27 (Gipson) acknowledges April as Supply Chain Awareness Month
and the critical role of the supply chain in California’s economy. As the world’s fifth largest
economy, California’s impact on the nation’s supply chain cannot be overstated – it is that
critical. Whether you’re a new parent whose child depends on formula at your grocery store, a
doctor whose patient requires a specific medication to heal, or millions of others, every single
person in our state relies on a stable and resilient supply chain. California’s supply chain industry
– including California’s ports, airports, railways, highways, and logistics centers also support
millions of good paying jobs that are essential to ensuring the stability of the entire supply chain.
In fact, over 40% of US container imports are handled by major California ports and California
leads the nation in the value of outbound shipments”.
