Existing law establishes the State Department of Social Services for the administration of public social services, except as specified. Existing law generally provides support services for individuals who are survivors of human trafficking, including public social services, and awards grants to support qualified nonprofit organizations that provide various services to victims of human trafficking.
This bill would require the department to convene a task force comprised of relevant stakeholders to develop best practices to assist current and former victims of human trafficking. The bill would require the department, with input from relevant stakeholders, to discuss and examine different approaches to ensure victims are provided with currently available public services and benefits and identify challenges and gaps that prevent victims from being connected with public services and benefits.
