Existing law establishes the Medi-Cal program, which is administered by the State Department of Health Care Services and under which qualified low-income individuals receive health care services, including emergency or nonemergency medical or nonmedical transportation services. The Medi-Cal program is, in part, governed and funded by federal Medicaid program provisions.
Existing law sets forth various provisions relating to nonemergency medical or nonmedical transportation with regard to scope, prior authorization, reimbursement rates, and payments, and other provisions relating to transfers between facilities.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would, upon appropriation, provide an unspecified amount of additional funding for Medi-Cal reimbursements for nonemergency interfacility transfers.
