SUBJECT: International Day of Peace.
SUMMARY: Proclaims September 21, 2021, as the International Day of Peace. Specifically,
this resolution makes the following legislative findings:
1) In 1981, the United Nations General Assembly, by unanimous vote, adopted Resolution
36/67 establishing the International Day of Peace.
2) Resolution 36/67 states in part “that it would be appropriate to devote a specific time to
concentrate the efforts of the United Nations and its Member States, as well as of the whole
of mankind, to promoting the ideals of peace and to giving positive evidence of their
commitment to peace in all viable ways”.
3) International Day of Peace provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and
nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date.
4) International Day of Peace should be devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals
of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.
5) International Day of Peace is an opportunity to make peace in personal relationships and
impact the larger conflicts of our time.
