This bill proposes to amend current statutes by adding a new section, 15-1047, to title 15, chapter 9, article 8 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, which pertains to the student accountability information system. The new provisions will require the Department of Education to adopt policies and procedures to verify high school graduation status based on information submitted to the student accountability information system. Additionally, the verification process must comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Furthermore, the bill allows the Department of Education to establish and collect fees for verification services, with a limit of providing these services for no more than one hundred requests per calendar year. It also mandates that starting March 1, 2027, and annually thereafter, the department must report to key state officials on the number of verification requests received, the number of verifications provided, and the associated costs and revenues from these services.
