The proposed bill seeks to amend section 16-112 of the Arizona Revised Statutes regarding driver license voter registration. Under the new law, the Department of Transportation will be required to provide applicants with a statement that outlines each eligibility requirement for voting, including citizenship, and includes an attestation that the applicant meets these requirements. Additionally, the department will submit a copy of the applicant's handwritten signature to the county recorder where the applicant resides.

The bill also introduces new language that specifies the information to be presented in print identical to the attestation. This includes a description of the penalties for submitting a false voter registration application, as well as statements regarding the confidentiality of applicants who decline to register to vote and the confidentiality of the office where a voter registration application is submitted. The current law's provisions regarding these statements will be deleted and replaced with the new requirements outlined in the bill.
