This bill proposes to amend the Arizona Revised Statutes by adding a new section, 15-701.05, which mandates that each school district provide daily physical education instruction for students in kindergarten through grade twelve. The bill specifies that at least sixty percent of the instructional time must be dedicated to moderate physical activity and outlines the required components of the physical education curriculum, including individual and team activities, exposure to health-related career pathways, and the development of lifelong physical activity skills. Additionally, it requires that adapted physical education be provided for students with disabilities in accordance with their individualized education programs.

Furthermore, the bill allows for certain exemptions from the physical activity requirements. Students may be excused if they participate in a school-sponsored athletic team, have a physician's note indicating health risks associated with physical activity, have chronic health problems, are excused by their individualized education program team, or if a parent submits a signed request for exemption. Importantly, the bill clarifies that students are not required to engage in outdoor physical activities during extreme weather conditions.
