This bill proposes to amend existing statutes related to health insurance reimbursement rates for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). Under the new provisions, health care insurers—including hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, health care services organizations, and disability insurers—will be prohibited from imposing reimbursement rates for CRNA services that differ from those for licensed physicians. This change aims to ensure equitable compensation for CRNAs, who are authorized to perform specific medical services.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that while insurers cannot impose differing reimbursement rates, they are still permitted to establish variable rates based on quality or performance-based measures. This allows for flexibility in reimbursement practices while maintaining parity between CRNAs and physicians in terms of base reimbursement rates. The amendments will take effect for contracts or policies issued, amended, or renewed on or after the effective date of the legislation.
