The proposed bill would amend current statutes by adding new procedural requirements for health profession regulatory boards in Arizona regarding the evaluation of health professionals. Specifically, it would require these boards to provide a notice to health professionals at least 14 days prior to voting on whether to mandate a psychological, psychiatric, or physical evaluation. This notice must include a summary of the action or complaint that led to the consideration of the evaluation. Additionally, health professionals would have the opportunity to submit a written response, which the board must consider before making a decision.
Furthermore, if a board votes to require an evaluation, it must provide the health professional with a copy of the completed evaluation. In cases where no disciplinary or nondisciplinary actions are taken following the evaluation, the board is required to reimburse the health professional for any costs incurred in obtaining the evaluation. These updates aim to enhance transparency and fairness in the evaluation process for health professionals.
