If enacted, this bill would amend current statutes regarding the mailing of sample ballots for elections in Arizona. Specifically, it would require county boards of supervisors to mail printed mailer-type sample ballots for both primary and general elections at least
fourteen days before the election, instead of the current requirement of
eleven days. Additionally, the bill stipulates that in counties with a United States Postal Service (USPS) Processing and Distribution Center, the mailing deadline would remain at
eleven days. The bill also mandates that the Secretary of State annually determine and publish a list of counties without a USPS Processing and Distribution Center based on USPS information.
Furthermore, the bill makes technical changes to the language regarding the return address on mailer-type sample ballots, allowing it to
may not contain the name of an appointed or elected public officer, and clarifying that the name of an appointed or elected public officer
may not be used to indicate who produced the sample ballot. Overall, these updates aim to enhance the timely distribution of sample ballots and ensure clarity in the election process.
