This bill proposes several updates to the Arizona Revised Statutes regarding driver license instruction permits. It removes the age requirement of "and six months" for individuals applying for a class D, G, or M instruction permit, allowing those who are at least fifteen years old to apply. Additionally, the duration of the instruction permit for class D or G licenses would be extended from twelve months to eighteen months, while the validity period for class M licenses would change from seven months to twelve months.
Furthermore, the bill increases the minimum holding period for an instruction permit from six months to nine months before a person can apply for a full license, with exceptions for those holding valid licenses from other jurisdictions. The act will be officially titled the "Juveniles Unlocking Driver Education (JUDE) Act."
