This bill proposes several updates to the current statutes regarding ambulance registration in Arizona. Under the new provisions, if a certificate holder submits a complete renewal application and the Department of Health Services (DHS) is unable to perform an inspection within the required timeframe, the ambulance's registration will remain valid until the inspection is completed. Additionally, for active certificate holders whose registrations lapsed between March 31, 2022, and August 1, 2024, DHS will consider their expired registrations as valid if all lapsed fees are paid. The bill also repeals the certification validity requirements effective January 1, 2026, and makes technical changes to the existing language.

Furthermore, the bill clarifies that the failure of DHS to issue a registration or renewal certificate within the established timeframe does not invalidate the certificate's effective date. It also includes legislative findings related to the impact of COVID-19 on registration processes and aims to prevent the forfeiture of state and federal funds due to lapses in registration. The act is designated as an emergency measure, allowing it to take effect immediately upon passage.
