This bill proposes updates to current statutes regarding the identification requirements for Department of Child Safety (DCS) caseworkers when visiting children at school for interviews. Under the new provisions, a DCS caseworker must present their DCS identification upon visiting a child at school, and the school is required to verify this identification. If the caseworker is unable to provide the necessary identification, they must supply the school with contact information for their DCS office, which the school will then use to confirm the caseworker's identity and employment status.

Additionally, the bill specifies that while a caseworker may be asked to show a valid driver license or nonoperating identification license, schools are prohibited from retaining any personal identifying information of the caseworker. However, they are permitted to keep a record of the caseworker's DCS identification. These changes aim to enhance the security and verification process for DCS caseworkers interacting with children in school settings.
