This bill proposes to amend current statutes regarding constable training in Arizona. Under the existing law, the provisions related to sheriffs govern the powers, duties, and liabilities of constables. The bill would remove the word "shall" from this provision, thereby updating the language to reflect a more flexible interpretation of the applicability of sheriff-related laws to constables.

Additionally, the bill introduces new provisions that allow elected or appointed constables to request training from the Constable Ethics Standards and Training Board (CESTB). If the request is approved, the training will be funded by the board and delivered by a constable who has completed the mandatory basic training course. This selected constable will have the authority to provide training in any county within the state, thereby enhancing the training opportunities available to constables.
