If enacted, this bill would amend current statutes regarding remote work for full-time state employees. Under the new provisions,
A. A full-time employee of this state may not work remotely, with the exception that
supervisors may allow employees who are sick to work remotely. Additionally,
B. Each state agency shall require a full-time employee to perform the employee's assigned duties at the state agency's office during the employee's REGULARLY SCHEDULED work hours. However, employees whose duties necessitate site visits or inspections, or who provide services at locations other than the agency's office, would be exempt from this requirement if they perform their duties at the site during their regularly scheduled hours.
The bill also clarifies that
C. Virtual meetings and conference calls do not constitute remote work pursuant to this section. This change aims to establish a clear framework for remote work policies within state agencies, ensuring that full-time employees are primarily required to work on-site while allowing for specific exceptions. Overall, the bill seeks to reinforce in-person work requirements while accommodating certain circumstances that may necessitate remote work.
