If enacted, this bill would amend current statutes regarding the transfer of contributions by candidate committees in Arizona. Under the current law, a candidate committee for a city or town candidate
shall not transfer contributions to that same candidate's committee for a statewide or legislative office. The bill would change this to allow such transfers, stating that a candidate committee
may transfer contributions to that same candidate's committee for a statewide or legislative office. Additionally, it would impose a limit on the aggregate amount of contributions transferred from a city, town, or county candidate's committee to a statewide or legislative committee, ensuring it does not exceed the contribution limits for that office as prescribed by section 16-941.
Furthermore, the bill would require every incorporated city, town, or county to adopt ordinances, rules, or regulations that establish standards for financial disclosure consistent with existing laws. Specifically, it mandates that each local public officer's completed financial disclosure be made accessible to the public on the respective city, town, or county's website. The provisions of this legislation would take effect on
January 1, 2027, and would only apply to contributions received after that date.
