This bill proposes to amend current statutes regarding the Motorcycle Safety Fund by removing the expiration date of June 30, 2025, which currently limits the deposit of $1 from each motorcycle registration fee into the Fund. The bill will ensure that this deposit continues indefinitely, as indicated by the deletion of the sunset provision in through June 30, 2025, and the insertion of Notwithstanding section 28-2004, the director of the department of transportation shall deposit...in the motorcycle safety fund. Additionally, the bill introduces new provisions that require any fees or assessments collected for the Fund to be held in trust and specifies that Fund monies can only be used for purposes prescribed by statute, prohibiting their appropriation for general state operations.
