The proposed bill amends the Arizona Revised Statutes by adding new sections that require residential care institutions, nursing care institutions, assisted living facilities, and assisted living homes to provide a pamphlet on identifying and reporting elder abuse to each prospective patient or resident, or their representative. The contents of the pamphlet, as prescribed by the department or the board in consultation with the department, must include at a minimum: the signs of elder abuse, questions to ask potential victims and facility administrators, the patient's or resident's rights regarding care and reporting abuse, and contact information for reporting suspected elder abuse. This represents new requirements for these facilities to educate individuals about elder abuse and how to report it.
