The bill HB2112 amends the Arizona Revised Statutes by adding a new section that requires health care services organizations to provide coverage for hearing aids and related services for children and high school students under 21 years old. The coverage includes the full cost of one hearing aid per hearing-impaired ear up to $2,200 every 36 months. Enrollees have the option to choose a more expensive hearing aid and pay the difference above the coverage limit without penalty. The coverage also includes fitting and dispensing services, ear molds, and services provided by a licensed health care provider. This coverage does not apply to short-term travel, accident-only, or limited benefit coverage.
The bill defines "hearing aid" and "licensed health care provider" for the purposes of this section. Coverage for hearing aids may be subject to deductibles and coinsurance consistent with other benefits under the same evidence of coverage. The new requirements apply to evidences of coverage issued on or after December 31, 2024.
