HB2017 proposes amendments to the Arizona Revised Statutes concerning the determination of assured water supply for land subdivisions within Active Management Areas (AMAs). The bill allows the Director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to consider only the proposed source or sources of water supply when determining the physical availability of water for a designation or certification of assured water supply, without regard to whether the water is commingled with other water sources in a delivery system.

Additionally, the bill prohibits the Director of ADWR from requiring a subdivider applying for a certificate of assured water supply, or a commitment of water service from a water provider with an assured water supply designation, to procure or dedicate a water source exceeding 100 percent of the water needed for the subdivider's proposed use. The bill also includes technical and conforming changes, and it will become effective on the general effective date.
