The resolution recognizes the Van Buren High School Pointers wrestling team for their outstanding achievement in winning the 2025-2026 Class 5A state championship, marking their fifth consecutive title and ninth overall in Class 5A wrestling. The team triumphed at the Arkansas State Wrestling Tournament held on February 14, 2026, defeating the Lake Hamilton Wrestling Wolves by a margin of 10.5 points. Notably, fifteen-year-old freshman Peyton Boston led the team by winning the state championship in the 126-pound class and was named Outstanding Wrestler for the lower weight class. The team had a strong showing, qualifying in eleven out of fourteen weight classes, with multiple members placing in the top four of their respective classes.

Additionally, the resolution acknowledges the Lady Pointers wrestling team for finishing as state runners-up for the second consecutive year, with senior Eva Garcia earning the title of state champion in the 120-pound class, concluding her high school career as a three-time state champion. The Lady Pointers also had several other team members placing in their weight classes. The resolution commends Head Coach John Petree and Assistant Coaches Dakota Petree and Cory Hansen for their leadership, with Coach Petree being named Class 5A Wrestling Coach of the Year. Upon adoption, a copy of the resolution will be presented to the coaching staff.
