The proposed legislation, known as the "Pregnancy Parking Act," aims to amend existing laws regarding parking for individuals with disabilities by introducing a temporary special certificate specifically for pregnant women. Under this act, a woman who is confirmed to be pregnant by a licensed physician can apply for this temporary certificate through the Office of Motor Vehicle. The certificate will be valid for one year following the birth of the child and will conform to existing requirements for disability parking permits.

Additionally, the Office of Motor Vehicles is tasked with developing an application form that includes a sworn statement of pregnancy, distributing information about the new provisions to law enforcement agencies, and maintaining records of the certificates issued. The act also emphasizes that the privilege to park in designated disability spaces is only applicable when the pregnant individual or a person with a disability is present in the vehicle. The Office of Motor Vehicle is authorized to create rules to effectively implement these provisions.
