This bill amends the Arkansas Code regarding the community service diploma requirement for public high school students, specifically for those graduating in the 2026-2027 school year. It establishes that students must complete a minimum of seventy-five (75) clock hours of documented community service during grades nine through twelve (9-12) to qualify for graduation. The previous requirement for certification by the service agency or organization has been removed.

The new provision allows a parent, legal guardian, or person standing in loco parentis to document and maintain the community service hours obtained by the student. This documentation must include an attestation from the parent or guardian confirming the hours completed and may be subject to audits by the Department of Education to ensure proper documentation and accuracy of the reported hours.
