Born in Brooklyn, New York, Pastor Jenkins served in the United States Air Force and later earned an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Arkansas Baptist College. He became a significant figure in the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where he served as pastor for forty-eight years. His leadership extended beyond the church, as he held various prominent positions within the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Arkansas and the National Baptist Convention of America, among others.

Pastor Jenkins was also deeply involved in the Prince Hall Masonic Family, achieving the esteemed title of Grand Inspector General, 33rd Degree, and serving as Senior Grand Chaplain. He is remembered not only for his spiritual leadership but also for his dedication to community service and family. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Jenkins, and their daughters, along with numerous grandchildren and extended family.
