This resolution recognizes Colleen Nick and the Morgan Nick Foundation on the thirtieth anniversary of the kidnapping of Morgan Nick, who was abducted on June 9, 1995, during a little league baseball game in Alma, Arkansas. Despite extensive investigations, Morgan remains missing. In response to this tragedy, Colleen Nick established the Morgan Nick Foundation in 1996, which focuses on educating children about abduction prevention and providing support to families of missing children. The foundation has partnered with the Arkansas State Police to enhance investigative efforts and community engagement, contributing to the recovery of numerous missing children and the fight against human trafficking.
The resolution highlights Colleen Nick's significant contributions as a national advocate for missing children, including her role in establishing the Morgan Nick AMBER Alert system in Arkansas and her involvement with various organizations dedicated to child safety. It acknowledges her leadership in training law enforcement and her participation in national discussions on child abduction and exploitation. The House of Representatives expresses appreciation for the foundation's ongoing efforts and the impact they have made in the lives of families affected by child abductions, and it resolves to present a copy of the resolution to Colleen Nick.
