The bill amends the existing law regarding the bidding procedure for the construction of buildings and facilities in Arkansas. It specifies that after a state agency has prepared and approved plans and specifications, it must advertise for bids for projects exceeding $50,000 at least once a week for two consecutive weeks. For projects that are more than the quote bid but less than or equal to $50,000, the agency must advertise for bids at least once a week for one week.

Additionally, the bill introduces a new subsection that exempts certain projects from the standard bidding procedures. Specifically, it states that the requirements for preparation and approval of plans and specifications do not apply to repair, alteration, or maintenance projects that cost $150,000 or less, are managed by the Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism, and are funded by specific tax revenue allocated for special maintenance to the State Parks Division.
