This bill aims to create an additional circuit judgeship in the Nineteenth Judicial District-West to address the increasing caseloads and ensure the efficient administration of justice. The new judgeship will be established effective April 1, 2025, and the elected judge will serve a six-year term, with the same qualifications, salary, and allowances as existing circuit judges. The county will be responsible for providing the necessary courtroom and office facilities, as well as a court reporter and trial court administrator.

Additionally, the bill includes provisions for the election process of the new circuit judge, which will take place during the 2026 nonpartisan judicial general election, with the elected judge assuming office on January 1, 2027. An emergency clause is included, stating that the act is necessary for the preservation of public peace, health, and safety, allowing it to take effect immediately upon the specified date.
