8 TO RECOGNIZE COLONEL WOMACK AND HIS POSITIVE IMPACT
9 ON THE STATE OF ARKANSAS AND ESPECIALLY THE NORTHWEST
10 ARKANSAS REGION THROUGH KURM RADIO IN ROGERS.

17 REGION THROUGH KURM RADIO IN ROGERS.

20 WHEREAS, Kermit Womack retired Army colonel and owner of KURM Radio
21 (790-AM, 100.3 FM) in Rogers, Arkansas, has announced that KURM will cease
22 operations effective July 1, 2024; and
23
24 WHEREAS, KURM began operations on November 9, 1979, and will end after
25 nearly forty-five (45) years of service to the Northwest Arkansas region; and
26
27 WHEREAS, Colonel Womack has been a broadcaster for more than seventy
28 (70) years; and
29
30 WHEREAS, After graduating from Arkansas Tech in 1956, Colonel Womack’s
31 radio career had stops in Russellville, Arkansas (KXRJ); Lexington, Missouri
32 (KLEX); Moberly, Missouri (KWIX/KRES); and back to Russellville where it all
33 started with KARV (former KXRJ), before founding KURM in Rogers, Arkansas;
34 and

36 WHEREAS, KURM has been a staple in the local media market as a radio

1 station dedicated to community involvement with emphasis on the coverage of
2 local news, weather, sports, and daily features including programs like Dial-
3 a-Trade and Party Line; and

5 WHEREAS, plans for July 1, 2024 include regular morning programming,
6 followed by a special drop-in reception from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for loyal
7 listeners and community leaders to express their gratitude for Colonel
8 Womack’s service,

10 NOW THEREFORE,
11 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

14 THAT the House of Representatives recognize Colonel Womack and his
15 positive impact on the State of Arkansas and especially the Northwest
16 Arkansas region through his contributions to KURM Radio.
17
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be
19 provided to Colonel Womack by the Chief Clerk of the House of
20 Representatives.
