16 SOFTBALL STATE CHAMPIONS.

19 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals defeated the Pea Ridge
20 High School Lady Blackhawks 6-5 to become the 2024 Class 4A Girls Softball
21 State Champions on May 17, 2024; and
22
23 WHEREAS, the Pea Ridge High School Lady Blackhawks scored five (5)
24 straight runs in the home half of the game but that was all they would get as
25 the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals held on for the 6-5 win; and
26
27 WHEREAS, freshman pitcher Morgan Reaves was named most valuable player
28 as she pitched a complete game, striking out four (4) batters and giving up
29 five (5) hits, three (3) walks, and five (5) earned runs; and
30
31 WHEREAS, other key players included:
32 (1) Morgan Uher going three (3) for three (3), drawing a walk,
33 scoring a run, and driving in three (3) more runs;
34 (2) Reese Shirey going two (2) for four (4) and scoring two (2)
35 runs;
36 (3) Kinley Meek going one (1) for three (3) with a two (2) run

1 home run; and
2 (4) Justine Davidson and Kennedy Griggs each going one (1) for
3 three (3) and scoring a run; and

5 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals were led by Coach
6 Jason Shirey; and
7
8 WHEREAS, Coach Jason Shirey was voted by his peers as the Arkansas
9 Activities Association's Outstanding Softball Coach for the 2024 season; and
10
11 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals concluded their
12 season at 23-5; and
13
14 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals have had an
15 impressive history in softball, securing four (4) state championships between
16 1999 and 2011, and now again in 2024,
17
18 NOW THEREFORE,
19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

22 THAT the House of Representatives recognize the Farmington High School
23 Lady Cardinals as the 2024 Class 4A Girls Softball State Champions.

25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be
26 provided to Coach Jason Shirey by the Chief Clerk of the House of
27 Representatives.
