19 WHEREAS, the Valley View High School Blazers baseball team defeated the
20 Maumelle Hornets at the University of Central Arkansas's Bear Stadium with a
21 final score of 5-0 on Sunday, May 19, 2024, becoming the Class 5A State
22 Champions; and
23
24 WHEREAS, this win was the Valley View Blazers baseball team's first
25 state championship win since 2021, after back-to-back losses in the 2022 and
26 2023 Class 4A State Championship games, and its fourth state championship win
27 in school history; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the Valley View Blazers baseball team has an overall record of
30 31-2 for the season and an undefeated record of 14-0 in its conference, with
31 no in-state teams having beaten the Blazers this season; and

33 WHEREAS, University of Arkansas signee and senior pitcher Lance Davis
34 was named the Most Valuable Player following the team's victory in the state
35 championship game; and

1 WHEREAS, at the beginning of the 2024 season, the Valley View Blazers
2 baseball team was ranked as the twenty-sixth best team in the country by
3 Perfect Game in its preseason High School Top 50, and by the end of the 2024
4 season, the team was ranked as the eighteenth best team in the country by
5 Perfect Game in its postseason High School Top 50; and
6
7 WHEREAS, four (4) players on the Valley View Blazers baseball team have
8 already signed to play for National Collegiate Athletics Association Division
9 I programs during the next season, including Slade Caldwell, Eli Crecelius,
10 Lance Davis, and Lawson Ward; and
11
12 WHEREAS, teamwork is an essential life skill for young people to
13 develop in order for them to become exceptional professionals, and
14 successfully working together as a team teaches the importance of trust,
15 accountability, and respect for others despite their differences; and
16
17 WHEREAS, the Valley View Blazers baseball team's state championship win
18 would not have been possible if not for Coach Josh Allison and his leadership
19 and compassion for his team, which allowed this group of talented young men
20 to achieve something they will remember for the rest of their lives; and
21
22 WHEREAS, Coach Josh Allison is quoted as saying, "I told them before
23 the game we already won the season. We've already won. We've already done
24 everything we can do. Now it's just time to go out there and play one last
25 game together; I'm proud of them.",

27 NOW THEREFORE,
28 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

31 THAT the House of Representatives recognize and congratulate the Valley
32 View High School Blazers baseball team as the 2024 Class 5A State Champions.

34 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy be
35 provided to Coach Josh Allison by the Chief Clerk of the House of
36 Representatives.
