20 WHEREAS, Sherry Barnard graduated from the St. Edward Mercy Hospital
21 School of Nursing in Fort Smith in 1967; and
22
23 WHEREAS, during her professional career as a registered nurse, Sherry
24 Barnard gained experience in many areas of medical practice, including:
25 (1) Pediatrics in Fort Smith, with Dr. Charles Floyd from 1967-
26 1970;
27 (2) As a clinic nurse in Russellville with Dr. Douglas Lowery
28 from 1970-1973;
29 (3) Internal medicine, with Dr. Ken Thompson at the Cooper
30 Clinic in Fort Smith from 1973-1975;
31 (4) Various specialties at the Cooper Clinic in Fort Smith from
32 1975-1978;
33 (5) School nurse for the Fort Smith Public School District; and
34 (6) Family Health at the John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort
35 Worth, Texas from 1980-1984; and

1 WHEREAS, Sherry Barnard has been married to Kenneth Barnard for fifty-
2 six (56) years; and
3
4 WHEREAS, Sherry Barnard took some time off from working as a registered
5 nurse from 1984-1997 to raise her two (2) sons Shawn and Brandon; and
6
7 WHEREAS, Sherry Barnard returned to work as a part-time clinic nurse
8 for various specialties at the CHI St. Vincent Little Rock Diagnostic Clinic
9 from 1997-2022; and
10
11 WHEREAS, Sherry Barnard concluded her professional career working as a
12 registered nurse at the H. Elvin Shuffield Capitol Infirmary during the
13 legislative sessions from 2015-2024; and
14
15 WHEREAS, Sherry Barnard has dedicated her professional career to
16 nursing and the citizens of Arkansas,
17
18 NOW THEREFORE,
19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:
21
22 THAT the House of Representatives congratulate Sherry Barnard, R.N.,
23 upon her retirement and commend her for fifty-six (56) years of service as a
24 registered nurse.
25
26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be
27 provided to Sherry Barnard, R.N., by the Chief Clerk of the House of
28 Representatives.
