After taking time off to raise her two sons, she returned to nursing in 1997, working part-time at the CHI St. Vincent Little Rock Diagnostic Clinic until 2022, and concluded her career at the H. Elvin Shuffield Capitol Infirmary during legislative sessions from 2015 to 2024.
