19 WHEREAS, the Pine Bluff High School Zebras boys basketball team won the
20 Class 5A Boys State Basketball Championship on March 8, 2024, at the Bank OZK
21 Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas, defeating the Benton High School boys varsity
22 basketball team by a score of sixty-eight (68) to sixty-three (63); and
23
24 WHEREAS, the Pine Bluff High School Zebras boys basketball team's
25 victory in the Class 5A Boys State Basketball Championship is the second
26 consecutive state championship title for the Zebras boys basketball team; and
27
28 WHEREAS, the Pine Bluff High School Zebras boys basketball team won
29 fourteen (14) conference games, and had an overall record of twenty-five (25)
30 wins and five (5) losses; and

32 WHEREAS, the Pine Bluff High School Zebras boys basketball team was led
33 to victory by Head Coach Billy Dixon and Assistant Coach Lenell Brown; and
34
35 WHEREAS, senior Courtney Crutchfield finished the game with twenty-four
36 (24) points, seven (7) rebounds, and six (6) steals and was named the Most

1 Valuable Player for the second consecutive season; and

3 WHEREAS, junior Deriyon Graydon finished the game with fourteen (14)
4 points and six (6) rebounds and Senior Jamaal Hickman finished the game with
5 twelve (12) points and four (4) rebounds; and
6
7 WHEREAS, seniors Courtney Crutchfield and Braylen Hall were both named
8 to the Class 5A Boys Basketball All State Tournament Team; and
9
10 WHEREAS, the Pine Bluff High School Zebras boys basketball team's Head
11 Coach Billy Dixon was selected to coach in this summer's all-star game; and
12
13 WHEREAS, Coach Dixon stated, "These guys put in a lot of work. They
14 put in a lot of time. They make a lot of sacrifice[s] and commitment.",

16 NOW THEREFORE,
17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

20 THAT the House of Representatives recognize the Pine Bluff High School
21 Zebras boys basketball team for winning the 2024 Class 5A Boys Basketball
22 State Championship.

24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be
25 provided to Coach Billy Dixon by the Chief Clerk of the House of
26 Representatives.
