16 GIRLS BASKETBALL STATE CHAMPIONS.

19 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals defeated the
20 Morrilton High School Lady Devil Dogs 58-31 to become the 2023-2024 Class 4A
21 Girls Basketball State Champions on March 7, 2024, in Hot Springs, Arkansas;
22 and
23
24 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals unleashed a 16-0 run
25 before halftime, establishing a commanding lead of 34-14; and
26
27 WHEREAS, Reese Shirey was named Most Valuable Player, leading all
28 scorers with fifteen (15) points, eight (8) rebounds, four (4) assists, two
29 (2) blocked shots, and one (1) steal; and
30
31 WHEREAS, other key players included:
32 (1) Zoey Bershers scoring eleven (11) points, making two (2)
33 steals, and making two (2) blocks; and
34 (2) Marin Adams scoring eleven (11) points; and

36 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals have played in the

1 state title game five (5) years in a row and have earned their second
2 consecutive state championship win this season against the Morrilton High
3 School Lady Devils; and

5 WHEREAS, in the 2023-2024 season, the Farmington High School Lady
6 Cardinals basketball team earned the following titles:
7 (1) Conference Champions;
8 (2) District Champions; and
9 (3) Regional Champions; and

11 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals ranked #1 overall in
12 the State of Arkansas for the 2023-2024 basketball season with a record of
13 39-1; and
14
15 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals were led by Head
16 Coach Brad Johnson; and
17
18 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals girls basketball
19 team collected their fourth overall state title; and
20
21 WHEREAS, the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals girls basketball
22 team has earned its spot as the best girls basketball team in the state
23 through its dedication and team work,

25 NOW THEREFORE,
26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
27 STATE OF ARKANSAS:

29 THAT the Senate recognize the Farmington High School Lady Cardinals as
30 the 2023-2024 Class 4A Girls Basketball State Champions.

32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be
33 provided to Head Coach Brad Johnson by the Secretary of the Senate.
