11 CHAMPIONSHIP WINS AND COMMEND THE GREENWOOD HIGH
12 SCHOOL BULLDOGS HEAD COACHES FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP AND
13 ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

25 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Bulldogs Football Team took the
26 title of 6A State Champions on December 1, 2023, after defeating Little Rock
27 Christian Academy 41-23 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Bulldogs Football Team:
30 (1) Finished the 2023 season with a 13-0 record; and
31 (2) Participated in its eleventh state championship; and
32
33 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Bulldogs Football Team was led by
34 Head Coach Chris Young who:
35 (1) Was the head coach for two (2) of the Greenwood High School
36 Bulldogs Football Team state championships; and

1 (2) Was on staff for all eleven (11) state titles claimed by the
2 Greenwood High School Bulldogs Football Team; and

4 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Lady Bulldogs Cross Country Team won
5 its second consecutive state championship this year at Oaklawn in Hot
6 Springs, marking the Greenwood High School Lady Bulldogs Cross Country Team's
7 third state championship; and
8
9 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Lady Bulldogs Cross Country Team was
10 led by Coach Jim Andrews who:
11 (1) Was head coach for all three (3) state championships; and
12 (2) Is in his eleventh year as head coach; and
13
14 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team won
15 its third consecutive state championship with a victory over Vilonia High
16 School; and
17
18 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team has
19 participated in eight (8) state championships and has been led by Head Coach
20 Clay Reeves for all eight (8) state championship games; and
21
22 WHEREAS, Greenwood High School Lady Bulldogs senior basketball player
23 Anna Trusty was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Arkansas; and
24
25 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Lady Bulldogs Cheer Team won the 5A
26 Cheer State Championship this year, which was the first state championship
27 recognized by the Arkansas Activities Association in cheerleading; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Lady Bulldogs Cheer Team was led to
30 victory by Head Coach Rachael Presson in her seventh year as head coach; and
31
32 WHEREAS, two (2) Greenwood High School Bulldogs wrestlers won
33 individual state championships:
34 (1) Senior Jarod Pace won the one hundred thirty-two pound
35 (132lb.) division; and
36 (2) Junior Jonathan Martinez won the one hundred six pound (106

1 lb.) division; and

3 WHEREAS, the Greenwood High School Bulldogs student-athletes and
4 faculty have excelled in many sports and should be recognized for their
5 achievements,

7 NOW THEREFORE,
8 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:
10
11 THAT the House of Representatives recognize the Greenwood High School
12 Bulldogs Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Cheer, and Wrestling Teams for
13 their 2023-2024 season state championship wins and commend the Greenwood High
14 School Bulldogs head coaches for their leadership.
15
16 BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy shall be
17 provided to Head Coach Chris Young, Head Coach Jim Andrews, Head Coach Clay
18 Reeves, and Head Coach Rachael Presson by the Chief Clerk of the House of
19 Representatives.
