8 TO RECOGNIZE THE WOODLAWN HIGH SCHOOL BEARS BASEBALL
9 TEAM AS THE 2A STATE CHAMPIONS.

14 BEARS BASEBALL TEAM AS THE 2A STATE
15 CHAMPIONS.

18 WHEREAS, the 2023 Woodlawn High School Bears baseball team won the 2A
19 State Championship after defeating the Palestine-Wheatley Patriots with a
20 score of 3-2 on May 19, 2023; and
21
22 WHEREAS, the Woodlawn High School Bears baseball team has a winning
23 tradition in baseball and has won state championships in 2008, 2010, 2012,
24 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022; and
25
26 WHEREAS, the Woodlawn High School Bears baseball team completed the
27 2022-2023 season with a record of 33-3; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the Woodlawn High School Bears were also the district 7AA-East
30 Champions, and South AA Region Champions; and
31
32 WHEREAS, the Woodlawn High School Bears baseball team was led by Head
33 Coach Tommy Richardson; and
34
35 WHEREAS, Jace Bishop and Austin Howard were named All-State selections;
36 and

2 WHEREAS, Jayden Wilmoth, Braydon Jones, and Owen Stover were members of
3 the All-State Tournament team and Owen Stover was named the Most Valuable
4 Player for the championship game; and

6 WHEREAS, while the Woodlawn High School Bears baseball team has enjoyed
7 much success, the team continues to put in the hard work and dedication
8 necessary for success on and off the field,
9
10 NOW THEREFORE,
11 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 94TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
12 OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

14 THAT the House of Representatives recognize the Woodlawn High School
15 Bears baseball team as the 2A Baseball State Champions.
16
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy be
18 provided to Head Coach Tommy Richardson by the Chief Clerk of the House of
19 Representatives.
