20 WHEREAS, the 2023 Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' cross country
21 team won the 4A State Championship in Hot Springs on Thursday, November 2,
22 2023; and

24 WHEREAS, the 2023 Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' cross country
25 team victory in the 4A State Championship marks a historic achievement by
26 making the team back-to-back 4A State Champions and 4A-1 Conference Champions
27 in 2022 and 2023; and

29 WHEREAS, the 2023 Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' cross country
30 team was led by the Arkansas Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, Chris
31 Weller; and

33 WHEREAS, the 2023 Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' cross country
34 team was led by runners Julia Whorton, Keira Ralph, Litzy Garcia, Anna
35 Kedrowski, Celia Chernota, Nadiyah Thornton, and Lilly Sharp; and

1 WHEREAS, Gravette High School senior Julia Whorton earned a silver
2 medal in the race, finishing the course with a time of 20:07.00; and
3
4 WHEREAS, Gravette High School sophomore Keira Ralph finished in fifth
5 place with a time of 20:50.43; and
6
7 WHEREAS, Gravette High School junior Litzy Garcia finished in seventh
8 place with a time of 21:14.26; and
9
10 WHEREAS, Gravette High School senior Anna Kedrowski finished in twenty-
11 fourth place with a time of 22:23.71; and
12
13 WHEREAS, Gravette High School junior Celia Chernota finished in twenty-
14 sixth place with a time of 22:39.18; and
15
16 WHEREAS, Gravette High School sophmore Nadiyah Thornton finished in
17 sixty-fifth place with a time of 24:59.80; and
18
19 WHEREAS, Gravette High School sophmore Lilly Sharp finished in sixty-
20 sixth place with a time of 25:02.13; and
21
22 WHEREAS, the 2023 Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' cross country
23 team "is a reminder that, with perseverance, teamwork, and unwavering
24 determination" a team can end up victorious; and
25
26 WHEREAS, the Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' cross country team
27 returns in 2024 as the number two (2) ranked team in 4A by only sixteen (16)
28 points,

30 NOW THEREFORE,
31 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
32 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

34 THAT the Senate recognize the Gravette High School Lady Lions Girls'
35 cross country team as the 2022 and 2023 4A State Champions and 4A-1
36 Conference Champions.

2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy be
3 provided to Coach Chris Weller by the Secretary of the Senate.
