8 TO RECOGNIZE THE GRAVETTE HIGH SCHOOL LADY LIONS
9 GIRLS' SOFTBALL TEAM AS THE 2023 4A STATE CHAMPIONS.

15 2023 4A STATE CHAMPIONS.

18 WHEREAS, the 2023 Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' softball team
19 won the 4A State Championship after defeating the Pea Ridge Lady Hawks with a
20 score of 5-1 in Conway, Arkansas, on May 19, 2023; and
21
22 WHEREAS, Brooke Handle was named the Most Valuable Player of the
23 championship game; and
24
25 WHEREAS, the 2023 Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' softball team
26 had an outstanding batting average, hitting over .400 as a team throughout
27 the spring season; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' softball team
30 completed the 2022-2023 season with a record of 23-2; and
31
32 WHEREAS, the Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' softball team was
33 led by Head Coach Samantha Luther and Assistant Coach Kevin Cole; and
34
35 WHEREAS, the Gravette High School Lady Lions girls' softball team
36 contribute their success to:

1 (1) Playing with grit and heart and never giving up; and
2 (2) Understanding the importance of playing together as a team
3 in which every player's role is important,

5 NOW THEREFORE,
6 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
7 STATE OF ARKANSAS:

9 THAT the Senate recognize the Gravette High School Lady Lions girls'
10 softball team as the 2023 4A State Champions.

12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy be
13 provided to Head Coach Samantha Luther by the Secretary of the Senate.
