8 TO RECOGNIZE THE GRAVETTE HIGH SCHOOL LIONS BOYS'
9 WRESTLING TEAM AS THE 2024 4A STATE CHAMPIONS.

15 STATE CHAMPIONS.

18 WHEREAS, the 2024 Gravette High School Lions boys' wrestling team won
19 the state championship in the 4A division at the tournament in Little Rock on
20 February 23-24, 2024, and set a tournament high with one hundred eighty-four
21 (184) points; and
22
23 WHEREAS, the thirteen (13) qualified team members were named to the
24 All-State team and earned medals at the state wrestling tournament,
25 including:
26 (1) State Champions Logan Miller and Porter Bird;
27 (2) Runners-up Kelton McDougal, Jacob Gaylord, and Garrett
28 Merworth;
29 (3) Second runners-up Payton Burnett, Jake Mayo, Eli Keith,
30 Cutter Franks, and Tasi Benavente; and
31 (4) Third runners-up Matua Benavente, Clayton Nall, and Aiden
32 Holloway; and

34 WHEREAS, the 2024 Gravette High School Lions boys' wrestling team had a
35 record of 17-6 for the season and a record of 13-1 in 4A; and

1 WHEREAS, the 2024 Gravette High School Lions boys' wrestling team also
2 placed second at Dual State and first in the 4A North Regionals; and

4 WHEREAS, the 2024 Gravette High School Lions boys' wrestling team has
5 been supported in these many successes by an excellent team of coaches and
6 other staff members including:
7 (1) AJ Herrlein;
8 (2) Chris Weller;
9 (3) Greg Miller;
10 (4) BJ Herrlein; and
11 (5) Bry Moltz; and
12
13 WHEREAS, the 2024 Gravette High School Lions boys' wrestling team's
14 motto was GGG for Gravette Goes Gold, and Gravette went gold,
15
16 NOW THEREFORE,
17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

20 THAT the House of Representatives recognize the Gravette High School
21 Lions boys' wrestling team as the 2024 4A State Champions.
22
23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy be
24 provided to coach AJ Herrlein by the Chief Clerk of the House of
25 Representatives.
