8 TO RECOGNIZE THE FIREHOUSE MUSEUM & HOSTEL OF

14 HOSTEL OF ARKANSAS.

16 WHEREAS, the Firehouse Museum & Hostel of Arkansas is located at 1201
17 Commerce Street in Little Rock, Arkansas;
18
19 WHEREAS, Arkansas has one of the highest fire death rates per one
20 hundred thousand (100,000) persons in America; and
21
22 WHEREAS, Arkansas has over seventeen thousand (17,000) paid and
23 volunteer firefighters in over one thousand (1,000) fire departments; and
24
25 WHEREAS, hostelling was created to provide safe and economic lodging
26 for millions of world travelers seeking to visit countries with clean and
27 affordable lodging; and
28
29 WHEREAS, Hostelling Arkansas was formed in 2003 and obtained former
30 Fire Station 2 in the MacArthur Park Historic District in Little Rock; and
31
32 WHEREAS, in 2016, Hostelling Arkansas opened the Firehouse Museum &
33 Hostel of Arkansas to teach fire prevention and safety to all visitors,
34 tourists, and hostellers in the State; and
35
36 WHEREAS, the Firehouse Museum & Hostel of Arkansas has seen

1 unprecedented interest in its mission and plans to expand the facilities to
2 over twelve thousand (12,000) square feet,

4 NOW THEREFORE,
5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
6 STATE OF ARKANSAS:

8 THAT the Senate recognize the Firehouse Museum & Hostel of Arkansas for
9 its contributions to the State of Arkansas.

11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, an appropriate copy of this
12 resolution shall be provided to Mr. Johnny Reep, the Director of the
13 Firehouse Museum & Hostel of Arkansas by the Secretary of the Senate.
