8 TO RECOGNIZE THE LAKE HAMILTON WOLVES BOYS SWIM AND
9 DIVE TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2023 INDIVIDUAL CLASS 5A
10 STATE DIVE CHAMPIONSHIP AND FOR PLACING IN VARIOUS
11 SWIM AND DIVE EVENTS.

19 SWIM AND DIVE EVENTS.

21 WHEREAS, on February 25, 2023, Lake Hamilton High School’s Coby Qualls
22 won the 2023 individual Class 5A Dive State Championship and the Lake
23 Hamilton Wolves Boys Swim and Dive Team competed at Class 5A Swim and Dive
24 Championships held in Russellville, Arkansas; and
25
26 WHEREAS, the individual event won by Coby Qualls is the first diving
27 state championship won by a Lake Hamilton athlete; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the Lake Hamilton Swim and Dive Teams were the Boys 5A South
30 Conference Champions, placed 3rd in the Class 5A Boys Swim and Dive State
31 Championship, placed 4th in the 5A Girls Swim and Dive South Conference and
32 placed 12th in the Class 5A Girls Swim and Dive State Championship; and
33
34 WHEREAS, the head coach of the Lake Hamilton Wolves Boys Swim and Dive
35 Team is Mac Hurley and the assistant coach is Karen Smith; and

1 WHEREAS, Coach Hurley stated “I am super proud of this team who
2 overachieved all season. The kids worked hard and got better each week. Coby
3 set the standard for our dive team by winning state. He worked himself to be
4 a champion. We don't have a pool of our own like the top two schools, but
5 made no excuses and competed to our fullest with only seven boys and five
6 girls, finishing third in the state for the second consecutive year.”,

8 NOW THEREFORE,
9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
10 STATE OF ARKANSAS:
11
12 THAT the Senate commend the Lake Hamilton Wolves Boys Swim and Dive
13 Team for their first Class 5A dive championship and for competing and placing
14 in various events.
15
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, a copy shall be
17 transmitted to Head Coach Mac Hurley by the Secretary of the Senate.
