25 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

27 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 12-17-106(a), concerning the drug crime
28 special assessment, is amended to read as follows:
29 (a) There is hereby established a drug crime special assessment to
30 that shall be levied by the district courts or circuit courts of this state
31 in the sum of one hundred twenty-five fifty dollars ($125) ($150) against any
32 person who is convicted of or enters a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to
33 any felony or misdemeanor offense the court determines to be a drug crime.

35 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code § 12-17-107(c), concerning the use of a grant
36 awards funded by the drug crime special assessment, is repealed:

1 (c) No grant awards shall be used for capital outlay or equipment
2 purchases that exceed a cost of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500)
3 per item.
